DYNAMIC CONE PENETROMETER

The DCP (Dynamic Cone Penetrometer) is an instrument designed for the rapid insitu measurement of the structural properties of existing road pavements constructed with unbound materials.

Continuous measurements can be made down to a depth of 850mm or, when extension shafts

The DCP requires 3 operators; one to hold the instrument, one to raise the weight and one to record the results.

DYNAMIC PROBE EQUIPMENT

Dynamic Probe Rods are manufactured from heat-treated alloy steel, with graduations marked every 100mm,  along the 1 meter length. 
 
The rods ends butt-up fully against each other when driving, forming a resistance to the driving force. This stops threads getting damaged.
 
Spanner flats make rods easy to connect and disconnect 
Rods are made in the following sizes:
 
  • 35mm Rods – 1 meter and 1/2 meter long 
  • 22mm Rods  – 1 meter and 1/2 meter long 

DYNAMIC PROBING CONES

Probe cones are used for Dynamic Probing which determines the resistance of soils in-situ in accordance with BS 1377 Part 9.

Probe cones can be sacrificial or retained and are available in Bright Mild Steel.

All cones have a 90° point, and may be sacrificial (without thread), or retained (with thread).

HAND AUGER KIT/CLIP-ON CONNECTION

A comprehensive set for augering all types of soil down to a depth of 8-10 metres. These kits are specifically designed for use in soil research studies and are made to a high standard to ensure a long service life.

Clip-on connection: The advantage of the clip-on connection is that it is very fast with little weight. The clip-on connection is strong, rigid and long lasting

HAND AUGER KIT/SCREW THREAD CONNECTION

Screw thread connection: This connection is based on male and female thread on the parts to be coupled. The use of tapered threads for connection allows you to simply hand tighten the connection to create a rigid construction.

MACKINTOSH PROBE

The Mackintosh Probe is a hand operated lightweight and portable penetrometer. It is a considerably faster and cheaper tool than boring equipment especially when the soils under investigation are soft or loose.
Can be used to a depth of 16 metres.

• 6 x 1mtr Rods 9/16 BSF
• 5 x Knuckles 9/16 BSF

ROD LIFTING TOOL

The Rod Lifting Tool can be used on both the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer and the Mackintosh Probe.

The tool is used to pull rods out of the soil. Much easier than using mole-grips etc…
